Mr. Nilesh Bhardwaj, Advocate, for the petitioner. **** RAVI SHANKER JHA, CHIEF JUSTICE (oral) The petitioner has filed this petition challenging the act of the University in conducting the selection process for appointment on the post of Assistant Professor. He alleges that though he has been short listed and has also been called for interview but he has not been adjusted against the seats of general category candidates, although he has secured more marks than the general category candidates and belongs to a scheduled caste category. He has also alleged that the authorities have ignored the criteria prescribed in the shortlisting provision for the purpose of conducting a selection process on the basis of interview etc.

Apparently at this stage none of the aforesaid aspects are clear from the averments made by the petitioner in the petition and the petitioner has approached this Court at a stage when no step or action is crystallized on the part of the respondent university.

In the circumstances we are of the considered opinion that the petition at this stage is pre-mature. We do not find any reason to entertain this petition at this stage as the authorities have yet to complete the selection process and take a final decision on-merits.

Civil Writ Petition No. 3607 of 2020 [2] As the petition filed by the petitioner is based on conjectures and surmises, we do not propose to entertain this petition at this stage which is accordingly dismissed as pre-mature.
