Present petition has been filed under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (for short, 'BNSS'), praying for directions to the respondent-State to expedite the trial in FIR No.51 dated 15.07.2022 (P-1), under Section 21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, registered at Police Station Mehta, District Amritsar. 2.
Contends, inter alia, that despite lapse of more than 01 year after framing of the charges, no prosecution witness has been examined; rather trial is moving at a very slow pace.

Learned State counsel has acknowledged that charges were framed on 02.09.2023 and out of total 12 witnesses, none has been examined till date.
