The present appeal is directed against the judgment of conviction and order of sentence dated 27.03.2014 passed by learned Special Court (Fast Track Court), Patiala in case bearing FIR No.49 dated 27.06.2012, under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (hereinafter referred to as the 'NDPS Act'), registered at Police Station GRPS, Patiala, whereby the appellant/accused has been convicted for the commission of offence punishable under Section 20 of the NDPS Act and has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 10 years with a fine of Rs.1 lakh and in default of payment of fine, to further undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months.
FACTUAL BACKGROUND 2.
Brief facts of the prosecution case are that on 27.06.2012, ASI Gurjinder Singh (Investigating Officer) along with other police officials were present at Platform No.1, Railway Station Rajpura, where they noticed one person sitting on
a bench carrying a bag in his hand. On seeing the police party, he tried to slip away but he was apprehended on suspicion.
