The prayer made in the present petition is for allowing the petitioner to continue as Head Constable and grant subsequent promotions. 2.
None has appeared on behalf of the petitioner, despite the case having been called out twice.

Learned State counsel, on instructions from Amrik Singh, ASI O/o SSP, Patiala, has produced copy of communication from Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala dated 17.05.2024, which is taken on record as Mark 'A', the relevant whereof reads thus:- "5. That during the pendency of above CWP, the Director General of Police, Punjab, Chandigarh vide his office memo No. 12108-12208/E-I (S) dated 10-11-2017, the Seniority of Head-Constable w.e.f 01-01-1975 to 19- 02-2008 has already been finalized in compliance with the orders passed by the Hon'ble High Court in COCP No.1492 of 2015 and in CWP No. 4229 of 2011 titled as SI-Pardeep Singh and others v/s State of Punjab and the seniority of the petitioners in the rank of Head Constable was also revised. In this regard, the copy of memo No. 12108-12208/E-1 (5) dated 10-11- 2017 and extract list of seniority of the Petitioner are attached herewith. That it is also submitted that the seniority in the rank of ASI of the petitioners has been revised w.e.f. 30-11-2012 and 10-062013 instead 10-12-2016 and 14-06-2017 respectively and now the petitioner were serving on the post of Sub-Inspector (Local Rank) in District Patiala. This letter has been issued after the approval given by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala." 4.
