***** ARUN MONGA, J. (ORAL) Petition herein, inter alia, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to grant the petitioners the pay scale of Rs.1640-2900 w.e.f. 01.06.1992 with all consequential benefits including arrears along with interest @ 18% per annum.

Matter was taken up for hearing on 04.05.2022 and learned counsel was unable to assist and sought adjournment. At his request, matter was adjourned to 05.07.2022. On 05.07.2022, learned counsel again sought adjournment and matter was fixed for 19.07.2022. On resumed hearing, he again seeks time stating that his attempts to establish contact with the petitioners have been futile but as per his information barring one petitioner rest have retired from service. The 'Memo of Parties' does not reflect their addresses. Learned counsel is unable to assist the Court for lack of instructions due to not having proper address and particulars of the petitioners. In the premise, even issuance of fresh notice to petitioners would be an exercise in futility.

It seems that by sheer effluxion of time and pendency of the writ petition for more than 23 years before this Court, it has been rendered infructuous and/or the petitioners seem to have lost interest in pursuing the same. Be that as it may, writ petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioners to file an appropriate application in case, any cause of action still survives.
