This matter is being taken up for hearing through video conferencing due to the outbreak of pandemic, COVID-19. Petitioner claims to have been working as a Helper/Sweeper on regular basis with Nagar Council, Guruharshai, District Ferozepur. He is stated to have superannuated from the said post on 30.06.2019. However, retiral benefits, it is submitted, have not been released to him without any rhyme or reason.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that despite submitting representations dated 18.12.2020 and 19.01.2021 (Annexure P2), the respondent-authorities are not taking any action on the petitioner's claim.

  (O&M) At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioner restricts his prayer for a decision on the representations dated 18.12.2020 and 19.01.2021 (Annexure P-2), in a time bound manner. Notice of motion.

Ms. Akshita Chauhan, Asst. A.G., Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of all the respondents. Advance copy of the writ petition stands served.

Learned counsel for the State does not raise any serious objection to a direction for a decision on the representations dated 18.12.2020 and 19.01.2021 (Annexure P-2), submitted by the petitioner. Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of this case, but without any expression of opinion on the merits of the matter, this petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to consider and decide representations dated 18.12.2020 and 19.01.2021 (Annexure P-2), within a period of two months from receipt of certified copy of this order. Petition is disposed of accordingly.
