This is a petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a direction to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondent No.3-Ashwani Kumar, ASI, posted at Police Station Civil Lines, Batala.

The learned counsel for the State, at the outset, states that he has sought instructions from Inspector Jaspal Singh and as per the instructions there are four FIRs which are pending against the petitioners and only due to the Assembly Elections, as a preventive measure, respondent No.3 had visited the house of the petitioners and that since the elections are over the preventive measures, which had been taken, are no longer in place and there would be no requirement for respondent No.3 to visit the house of the petitioners.

CRWP No.1705 of 2022 -2In view of the statement made by the learned counsel for the State, no further orders need to be passed. The learned counsel for the petitioners' also in view of the statement made by the State counsel states that he does not wish to press the present petition at this stage.
