(ORAL) By way of the instant petition, the petitioner seeks the indulgence of this Court for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondent No.1 to renew/re-issue his passport in view of the application as moved by him on 03.12.2020 vide reference No.200007744190 and he has also made a further prayer to direct respondent No.1 to decide the legal notice dated 04.01.2021 (Annexure P-4) as served by him in this regard, while averring that respondent No.1 has not taken any action on his said legal notice and is not renewing/re-issuing his passport. Ms. Shweta Nahata, Advocate and Mr. N.K. Banka, DAG, Punjab, have joined the proceedings on behalf of respondents No.1 & 2 respectively, in pursuance of the copies of this petition having been sent to SEEMA SHARMA 2021.02.25 02:57 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document High Court, Chandigarh

Heard.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner would be satisfied in case a direction is issued to respondent No.1 to look into and decide his afore-said legal notice dated 04.01.2021 (Annexure P-4) within some specific time frame.

Learned counsel for the respondents have no objection for the same.

Keeping in view the afore-mentioned limited prayer of learned counsel for the petitioner and without commenting upon the merits of the matter in hand, the present petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent No.1-Regional Passport Officer, Chandigarh, to look into the said legal notice of the petitioner dated 04.01.2021 (Annexure P-4) and to decide/deal with the same in accordance with relevant law/Rules, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of the certified copy of this order.
