(ORAL) This is a petition that has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuing direction to respondents No.2 and 3 not to harass the petitioners at the instance of respondents No.4 to 6, as the petitioners are residing in live in relationship against the wishes of private respondents, with further prayer to protect their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents. The petitioners have also submitted a representation dated 21.02.2022 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 but no action has been taken so far.

Mr. A.S. Gill, Sr. DAG, Punjab who is present through the medium of Video Conferencing accepts notice for the official respondents. Counsel for the petitioners is directed to supply a complete copy of paper book to the counsel appearing for the State during the course of day, if not supplied already.

CRWP No.1615 of 2022 (O&M) -2Without commenting on merits and demerits of the case, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-3) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
