The petitioner prays for issuance of the writ in the nature of certiorari to quash the communication dated 04.12.2020 whereby he has been refused the compassionate appointment.

The petitioner claims that his father, who died on 06.04.2016, was working as a Steno-typist being in service. He submitted an application for the compassionate appointment which has been rejected. Though, the petitioner has not disclosed the fact of his mother already being employed, in the writ petition, however, on reading of the pages 18 and 34 of the paperbook, it is evident that his mother Mrs. Daljit Kaur was employed in the Health Department when his father passed away. The learned counsel representing the petitioner fairly admits that particular fact. 3.

Civil Writ Petition No. 2972 of 2023 concession extended by the State to support the families who face hardships after the sudden death of their bread earner. However, such policy is not applicable in a case where any member of the family of the deceased employee is already in employment.
