1. Petitioners Sunita Behal aged 64 years and Rakesh Kumar Behal aged 67 years seek issuance of directions to respondents No.2 and 3 to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 and 5.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioners son namely Rovil Behal solemnized marriage with one Divya in the year 2019 but they were not blessed with any child. It is alleged that petitioners' son and their daughter-in-law used to harass the petitioners and ultimately the petitioners disinherited them from their life and property but now at their instance respondents No.4 and 5 have been issuing threats to them to cause physical harm unless the petitioners effect some compromise with their son and daughter-in-law. It has been submitted that although the petitioners submitted a representation dated 05.02.2024 (Annexure P-2) to Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, but to no avail. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners but without commenting anything as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2Commissioner of Police, Amritsar to get the representation dated 05.02.2024 (Annexure P-2) examined qua the alleged threat perception of the petitioners. In case, it is found that there is genuine threat to life and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps as warranted under law be taken thereupon.

4. A copy of this order along with copy of representation dated 05.02.2024 (Annexure P-2) be sent to respondent No.2- Commissioner of Police, Amritsar for necessary compliance.
