IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA

AT CHANDIGARH CRM-M-6285 of 2019 Date of Decision: 11.04.2019 Navreet Singh @ Navneet Singh @ Navrit Singh ....Petitioner

Versus

State of Punjab ....Respondent CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE RAMENDRA JAIN Present: - Mr. S.K. Choudhary, Advocate, for the petitioner. Mr. Amandeep S. Gill, DAG, Punjab.

RAMENDRA JAIN, J. (ORAL) Through this petition under Section 439 Cr.P.C. prayer has been made for grant of regular bail to the petitioner in a case arising from FIR No.15 dated 21.01.2018 registered under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B IPC at Police Station Baghapurana, District Moga. According to the prosecution, petitioner cheated the complainant for `14.50 lakh on false pretext of sending him Canada. Neither he sent the complainant Canada nor his money was returned, rather handed over a fake visa to the complainant.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that petitioner is in custody since 05.10.2018. Conclusion of trial may take a sufficient long time. No useful purpose would be served by detaining the petitioner any more in jail.

On the other hand, learned State counsel vehemently opposed the grant of regular bail to the petitioner.
