Prayer made in the present petition is for directing the respondents to grant the petitioners the pay scale of Rs.1800-3200 w.e.f. 01.01.1986 (already granted w.e.f. 01.01.1996) at par with the Statistical Assistants of the Economical and Statistical Organisation. 2.
Learned counsel submits that the petitioners were appointed as Statistical Assistants in the Industries Department and on a representation submitted by them, they were granted the pay scale of Rs.1640-2925 w.e.f. 01.01.1986, which had been granted to the Statistical Assistants of the Economical and Statistical Organisation vide Annexure P-5, whereafter the revised scale of Rs.1800-3200 w.e.f. 01.01.1994 vide notification dated 06.06.1994, was granted to them though w.e.f. 01.01.1996. The aforesaid is the cause of their grievance on the present lis. Reliance is placed on the judgment of this Court in Swaran Singh and others vs. State of Punjab and others, CWP-1283-1996, decided on 07.01.1999, Annexure P-10, in terms of which he submits that the claim of the petitioners may be re-considered in a HAMANT 2025.04.01 18:21 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

The aforesaid facts having been brought out, during the course of hearing, learned State counsel, on instructions, states that the respondents would not be averse to have a relook at the matter and decided afresh, taking note of the aforesaid judgment, within a period of 6 months, uninfluenced by the order dated 16.05.2001, Annexure P-13, which this Court has no reason to believe the authorities would not address in a just, fair and reasonable manner. 4.
The aforesaid satisfies the learned counsel for the petitioners. 5.
The matter stands disposed of accordingly and if the petitioners are found entitled, grant the benefit forthwith. Needless to say, if the orders are adverse to their interest, the same may be passed after granting opportunity of hearing to them and shall contain reasons, whereupon they shall be free to seek legal redress thereupon.
