Petitioner No.1 - Mukhtiar Singh (complainant) as well as petitioner No.2 - Harmanpreet Singh (son of petitioner No.1 - Mukhtiar Singh) seek quashing of FIR No.59, dated 7.6.2018 registered at Police Station Longowal, District Sangrur, under Sections 494, 495, 496, 506, 420 and 120-B of Indian Penal Code, which petitioner No.1 had lodged against his daughter-in-law Ravinder Kaur @ Ruby i.e. respondent No.2, and all subsequent proceedings emanating therefrom on the basis of a compromise stated to have been effected between the parties.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the FIR is a result of matrimonial discord amongst petitioner No.2 - Harmanpreet Singh and his wife Ravinder Kaur @ Ruby (respondent No.2) and that as of now the matter has been amicably resolved amongst the parties and, as such, the petitioners do not wish to pursue with the FIR in question. Vide order dated 14.2.2023, the parties had been directed to appear before the Trial Court/Illaqa Magistrate so as to get their statements recorded qua the factum of compromise.

Report of learned Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Sangrur has been received, wherein it has been reported that statements of petitioner No.1 - Mukhtiar Singh (complainant), petitioner No.2 - Harmanpreet Singh and also of respondent No.2/accused namely Ravinder Kaur @ Ruby have been recorded to the effect that they have compromised the matter amongst themselves.

Petitioner No.1 - Mukhtiar Singh (complainant) and petitioner No.2 - Harmanpreet Singh in their statements have stated that they have no objection in case the FIR in question is quashed. 6.

Learned Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Sangrur has specifically opined that the parties have entered into compromise voluntarily and without any undue influence.

In view of the aforesaid compromise and bearing in mind the law laid down by Full Bench of this Court in 2007(3) RCR (Crl.) 1052 Kulwinder Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab, the present petition is allowed and FIR No.59, dated 7.6.2018 registered at Police Station Longowal, District Sangrur, under Sections 494, 495, 496, 506, 420 and 120-B of Indian Penal Code and all subsequent proceedings emanating therefrom are hereby quashed qua respondent No.2.
