(ORAL) In the present petition, all the petitioners have joined hands to seek the relief of issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to count the service, as rendered by them before 01.01.1986, for extending them the benefits of the proficiency step-up and to re-fix their pay/pension accordingly and also to release all the consequential benefits to them with interest thereon @ 12% per annum, while averring that the respondents have extended the same benefit to the employees placed similar to them and they have already sent a legal notice dated 05.01.2020 (Annexure P-9) to the respondents for claiming the afore-mentioned benefits but in vain. Notice of motion.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners would be satisfied in case a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to look into and deal with/decide their said legal notice (Annexure P-9), within some specific time-frame.

Learned State counsel has no objection for the same. Keeping in view the above-discussed limited prayer of learned counsel for the petitioners and without commenting upon the merits of the matter in hand, the instant writ petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Director of Public Instructions (EE), Punjab, to look into and deal with/decide the said legal notice of the petitioners (Annexure P-9) in accordance with the relevant rules/instructions/law/policy, by passing a speaking order thereon, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of the certified copy of this order.
