By way of present petition filed under Articles 226/227 of Constitution of India, prayer has been made for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.2 and 3 to protect life and liberty of the petitioner.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that instead of pressing the present petition on merits, his client would be satisfied in case direction is issued to the respondents to decide the representation (Annexure P-2) moved at the instance of petitioner by passing a speaking order expeditiously.

Prayer seems to be justified.

Upon advance notice, Mr. Davinder Bir Singh, Sr. DAG, Punjab appears on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 and raises no objection to the innocuous prayer made on behalf of the petitioner. 5.

The aforesaid direction shall not be treated as an expression of opinion on the merits of the averments made in the representation.
