The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking setting aside of award dated 18.11.1997 (Annexure P-1) to the extent his claim for reinstatement with continuity of service has been declined. 2.

The petitioner was terminated on 06.05.1982 and the impugned award was passed on 18.11.1997. The Labour Court has awarded lump sum compensation of Rs.15,000/-. The Labour Court has found it appropriate to order lump sum compensation instead of reinstatement with continuity of service.

Mr. Khullar submits that he has no contact with his client. 4.

The petition was filed before this Court in 1998 and Labour Court has awarded lump sum compensation of Rs.15,000/-. He was terminated in 1982. It is impossible to reinstate him at this stage. The matter cannot be kept pending for indefinite period. Accordingly, the present petition is dismissed with liberty to the petitioner to move an appropriate application if cause survives.
