The present Civil Writ Petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to grant promotion to the post of Assistant Revenue Clerk as per the Punjab Public Works Department (Irrigation Branch), Revenue Clerks, State Service, Class III Rules 1956, from amongst Canal Patwaris by preparing seniority list as per Statutory Recruitment Rules called Punjab Irrigation Department Canal Patwaris (Group-C) Service Rules, 2016.
Learned counsel for the petitioner would contend that a representation dated 22.10.2020 (Annexure P-3) in this regard, has been sent to respondent No.2, however, no action/decision has been taken qua the same. Learned counsel for the petitioner would further contend that he limits his prayer in the petition at this stage and that the petitioner would be YOGESH SHARMA 2021.04.06 20:24 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

In view of the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, without commenting on the merits of the case or the claim made by the petitioner, the present civil writ petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.2 - Chief Engineer, Punjab Irrigation Department, Sector-18, Chandigarh - to take a decision on the representation dated 22.10.2020 (Annexure P-3) in accordance with law expeditiously and in any case within a period of three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
Disposed off accordingly.
