*** ANIL KSHETARPAL, J. (Oral) While seeking direction to the respondents to appoint the petitioner on compassionate basis in the Punjab Police, he has filed the present petition in the year 2023. He claims that his grandfather late Constable Ishar Singh passed away on 08.10.1962 in an unfortunate incident when he was in service. The petitioner is his grandson. As per the petition, he is 35 years old.

An appointment on the compassionate basis is not another source of recruitment to the public employment. This exception is created by the State to provide support to family members who may have been left SATYAWAN 2023.04.20 10:26 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CWP-7889-2023 (O&M) 2023:PHHC:053771 without a bread winner. After a period of 61 years from the date of death of late Sh. Ishar Singh, this Court does not find appropriate to issue any direction particularly when the petitioner was not born on the date when late sh. Ishar Singh died.

Hence, dismissed.
