(Oral) The petition has been filed inter alia seeking a writ of certiorari quashing the seniority list dated 10.05.1996, Annexure P-5, as also the promotion order dated 26.08.1996, Annexure P-6. 2.

At the outset, learned State counsel, on instructions received from the Department vide memo dated 16.12.2024, contends that the matter has been rendered infructuous. It is because during pendency of the petition, vide office order dated 28.04.1997, the petitioners' date of regularisation was changed from 01.01.1991 to 01.11.1986, based upon that a fresh seniority list was notified on 28.10.1999, and all due benefits in terms thereof were released to the petitioners. Subsequently, the vocational education cadre in which the petitioners were working was merged in the Technical Education Department, and they superannuated from service while serving there.
