(Oral) The instant petition has been filed seeking issuance of directions to official respondents to protect the lives and liberty of the petitioners as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of the private respondents.

It may here be noticed that petitioner No.1 is wife of respondent No.4 while petitioner No.2 is daughter of respondent No.4. It appears that there is a matrimonial dispute between petitioner No.1 and respondent No.4. Previously also the petitioners had approached this Court by way of filing CRWP-5147-2021 seeking issuance of directions for protecting their lives

- 2 - and liberty which was disposed of vide order dated 28.6.2021 (Annexure P7). The said order reads as follows: "The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of directions to respondents No.2 to 4 to protect their life and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.5 to 11.

I have heard the learned counsel for the petitioners. The matter apparently seems to have arisen out of some matrimonial discord between petitioner No.1Charanjit Kaur and her husband i.e. respondent No.5Chand Singh. Mr. V.G. Jauhar, Sr. DAG, Punjab, upon whom and advance copy of the petition had already been served, has informed that the matter pertaining to representation dated 7.5.2021 (Annexure P-8) is being inquired into by Superintendent of Police, Malerkotla, District Sangrur. In view of the aforestated position, respondent No.3- Superintendent of Police, Malerkotla, District Sangrur is directed to expedite the proceedings of the inquiry and also to probe the possibility of some amicable settlement amongst the parties as learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that his clients are open to consider any reasonable compromise.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of representation dated 7.5.2021 (Annexure P-8) be conveyed to respondent No.3-Superintendent of Police, Malerkotla, District Sangrur for necessary compliance. The petition stands disposed off accordingly." Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that pursuant to passing of the aforesaid order dated 28.6.2021, proceedings under Section 107, 151 Cr.P.C. were initiated against respondent No.4-Chand Singh and Balwinder Singh (respondent No.8). However, the private respondents have

- 3 - again been harasing the petitioners and infact the private respondents are not even allowing the petitioners to instal CCTV cameras and Wi-fi connection, though they have every right for the same.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and without commenting anything as regards the merits of the case or the assertions made in the petition, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to Senior Superintendent of Police, Malerkotla, District Malerkotla (respondent No.2) to look into the matter and to dispose of representation dated 27.9.2021 (Annexure P-9), in accordance with law.
