On 17.11.2000, the following order was passed:- "The grievance of the petitioners is that after being selected to undergo Intermediate School course, their names have been withheld by the DIG. It is contended that he has no jurisdiction to withhold the names. The case of the respondents, on the other hand, is that the seniority of the Head Constables was being maintained at the district level and that now the Director General of Police has decided to maintain that at the central level on the basis of which Head Constables would be deputed for the Intermediate School course. Shri Mann contends that the Punjab Police Rules do not permit the respondents to maintain the seniority of the Head Constables at the central level. He also submits that persons junior to the petitioners have already passed the course. He seeks time to file replication. Adjourned to 20.12.2000."

Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab submits that petitioners were never selected to undergo Intermediate School course, thus, there was no question to recall their recommendation. He further submits that with the efflux of time, the claim of the petitioners has lost its significance. 3.

There was no representation of the petitioners on 27.02.2025. Even today, there is no representation of the petitioners. 4.

In the wake of statement of learned State Counsel, the instant petition is dismissed with liberty to petitioners to move an appropriate application within three months from today, if cause survives. 5.
