The petitioner-Jaswinder Kaur, who is aged 17 years and 8 months, has approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to official respondents to protect her life and personal liberty as she apprehends threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 to 7.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that respondent No.4 and 5 are parents of the petitioner and that respondents No.6 and 7 are her relatives. It has been submitted that respondent No.4-Lakhvir Singh i.e. father of the petitioner wanted to marry off the petitioner to some aged boy while she wanted to pursue her studies. Since, her family mounted pressure upon the petitioner to solemnize marriage, she left her parental home on 25.2.2021 and started residing with one of her friend in the village. The instant petition has been filed through Sh. Radhe Sham aged 20 years and 7 months Son of PANKAJ KAKKAR 2021.03.02 18:51 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, Punjab to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 25.2.2021 (Annexure P-3) in accordance with law expeditiously .

A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 25.2.2021 (Annexure P-3) be sent to respondent No.2- Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, Punjab so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. 5.

It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not be taken to be any expression with regard to relationship, if any, between the petitioner and Radhe Sham and shall also not be construed to confer any immunity upon the petitioner and Radhe Sham, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
