(ORAL) Case is taken up for hearing through video conferencing. This criminal writ petition has been filed under Articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of Habeas Corpus for the release of detenue, Satinder Kaur, who is alleged to be in the illegal custody of respondent No. 4-Jagroop Singh. It has been stated in the petition that Satinder Kaur, daughter of the petitioner, had been kidnapped by respondent No.4-Jagroop Singh and in this regard, intimation was also given to the Police Station Zirakpur, alongwith detenue's mobile number. The petitioner has relied upon the CCTV footage dated 04.02.2020 of a camera installed in Nabha Sahib Gurudwara, Patiala Road, Zirakpur, to show that the detenue is in the illegal custody of respondent No.4 since 04.02.2020. It has also been averred that the detenue is already engaged with one Chamkaur Singh, whereas Jagroop Singh is already married GURPREET SINGH 2021.07.30 16:22 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

Vide order dated 13.2.2020, passed by this Court, directions were issued to respondent No. 2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran to depute some police official of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police to inquire as to whether detenue-Satinder Kaur has been illegally detained by respondent No. 4 and to file a detailed report along with the statement of the detenue.

In compliance of the order dated 13.2.2020, status report by way of affidavit of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub Division Khadur Sahib, Camp at Goindwal Sahib, District Tarn Taran dated 26.7.2021, has been filed through e-mail. Copy of the same is taken on record. As per the status report, the enquiry was conducted and the statement of detenue Satinder Kaur, who has attained the age of majority, has been got recorded by ASI Sarabjit Singh, wherein she has specifically stated that she had performed marriage with respondent No. 4-Jagroop Singh and is happily residing with him at village Daleke, District Tarn Taran. She has further stated that she wants to live with Jagroop Singh and is in the family way.

Keeping in view the above, the present petition has become infructuous and is disposed of accordingly.
