Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that both petitioners are major. Marriage of petitioner No.1 was solemnized with respondent No.4 and two children were born out of said wedlock. Respondent No.4 used to beat petitioner No.1 and due to abusive married relationship, petitioner No.1 left the company of respondent No.4 and started living with petitioner No.2 in a live in relationship. It is further contended that respondents No.4 to 6 are threatening the petitioners to kill them and therefore, they apprehend danger to their life and liberty at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6. In this regard, they have also submitted a representation dated 12.02.2024 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 but no action has been taken so far.

At this stage, Mr. Karandeep Singh Dargan, Advocate has put in appearance on behalf of respondent No.4 and files his vakalatnama, which is taken on record. He submits that petitioner No.1 is already married to respondent No.4, having two children out of the said wedlock and therefore, she is not entitled for the relief sought in the present petition. 5.

Without commenting on the validity of the relationship of the petitioners and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-3) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
