This petition has been filed for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner in FIR No.6 dated 02.07.2015 under Sections 406/498A/354/506/ 120B IPC, registered at Police Station NRI, Sangrur, District Sangrur. Petitioner is the mother-in-law of respondent No.2. Interim protection was afforded to her by this Court vide order 17.03.2016. Thereafter, the matter was referred to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre
[2] of this Court on 20.05.2016.
It is submitted by learned counsel for the parties that the dispute has been settled before the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court on 22.12.2016. In terms of the settlement dated 22.12.2016, it has been agreed that a sum of `8,50,000/- shall be paid by the petitioner to respondent No.2. This will be the full and final settlement of respondent No.2's claims qua the petitioner as well as petitioner's son Karun Bedi and other family members. The decree of divorce between the petitioner's son Karun Bedi and respondent No.2 - Neelu obtained in Australia has been accepted by both the parties. It has also been agreed between the parties that a petition for quashing of the abovesaid FIR shall be filed on or before 15.01.2017. In terms of the settlement dated 22.12.
2016, learned counsel for the petitioner has produced a Demand Draft dated 26.12.2016 drawn on Yes Bank Ltd. for a sum of `1,00,000/- in favour of respondent No.2 - Neelu. The Draft dated 26.12.2016 has been handed over to the learned counsel for respondent No.2 for onward transmission to her. It is submitted that in view of the settlement arrived at between the parties, this petition be allowed. I have heard learned counsel for the parties and gone through the file.
It is not disputed by learned counsel for respondent No.2 that a settlement has been arrived at between the parties on 22.12.2016 before Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court. Copy of the settlement has been placed on record. Photocopy of the Demand Draft dated 26.12.2016 amounting to `1,00,000/- is taken on record.
[3] In view of the above but without commenting or expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, order dated 13.01.2016 passed by this Court is made absolute.
Petition is allowed.
