Ms. Bhavna Gupta, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab. *** AVNEESH JHINGAN, J (ORAL) The matter is taken up for hearing through video conference due to COVID-19 situation.

This petition was filed for issuance of directions to the official respondents for protection of life and liberty of the petitioners from the private respondents arrayed in the petition. As per the pleadings the petitioners had performed marriage against the wishes of their parents. It was pleaded that there was a threat perception.

On 4 th March, 2021, the following order was passed:- "The matter is taken up for hearing through video conference due to COVID-19 situation.

Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3 only at this stage.

 Mr. H.S. Multani, AAG, Punjab, appearing on advance notice accepts the same and seeks time to have instructions.

It has been brought to the notice of the court that the representation has been made to Senior Superintendent of Police, Rupnagar whereas the petitioners are residing in Hoshiarpur.

Put up on 17.3.2021 In the meantime, the concerned police officials not below the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police should record the statements of the petitioners. In case a request is made by the petitioners, they may be provided shelter in safe house till the next date. Learned State counsel has filed affidavit of Mr. Gurpreet Singh, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Hoshiarpur, District Hoshiarpur. Paragraph No. 2 of the affidavit is reproduced as under:- "2. That it is humbly submitted that in compliance of aforementioned direction passed by this Hon'ble Court, the deponent recorded the statements of the petitioners namely Simranjit Kaur and Gurjinder Singh on 14-03-2021 and they stated that they are major and they got done love marriage on 25-02-2021 with their free will. They filed CRWP No.

2150 of 2021 in this Hon'ble Court having danger to their life and and liberty at the hands of parents of petitioner Simranjit Kaur, but now they have no danger to their life and liberty from them and the parents of the petitioner No.1 are agreed with them over this marriage. The petitionerSimranjit Kaur further stated that now she is residing at village Soosa with her parents and now she will get married with her husband as per religious rites with the consent of her parents and they do not want to take any police security and they do not want to live in any other shelter home. The true translation of statements of petitioners are annexed as Annexure R-1/T and R-2/T."

None has put in appearance for the petitioners. In view of affidavit filed by the State, no further directions are called for.

The petition is disposed of as infructuous.
