Prayer in the present writ petition, filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing Regional Passport Office, Jalandhar, S.C.O.No.42-51, Pocket-I, Near Bus Stand, Jalandhar (Respondent No.1 herein) to re-issue the passport to the petitioner, applied by her on 11.11.2024 (Annexure P-3). 2.

Mr. Avinash Mandla, Advocate and Mr. Navneet Singh, Sr. DAG, Punjab, who are present in the Court, accept notice on behalf of respondent Nos. 1 and 2 respectively.

Mr. Avinash Mandla, Advocate appearing for respondent No.2Union of India has handed over a copy of letter dated 25.11.2024, issued by Government of India, Ministry of External Affairs, Regional Passport Office, Jalandhar in Court today, which is taken on record, subject to all just exception. Copy thereof has also been handed over to learned counsel for the petitioner in the Court today itself.

Learned counsel for the respondent-Union of India while referring to letter dated 25.11.2024 submits that certain clarification/information/document had been sought from the petitioner by the Regional Passport Office, Jalandhar, however, instead of responding to the same, petitioner has filed the present writ petition before this Court. Learned counsel further submits that in case, the petitioner visits the Regional Passport Office, Jalandhar, Room No.203 on 19.03.2025 at 11:00 A.M. and contact Mr.Janak Raj, Law Officer and provides the required clarification/information/document, the application submitted by him for renewal of passport would be considered and final decision would be taken thereon within a period of six weeks from the date when the aforesaid clarification/information /document is provided by the petitioner. 6.

Learned counsel for the petitioner does not dispute to the aforesaid course of action being adopted.

Keeping in view the aforesaid submissions made by learned counsel for the parties, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioner to visit the Regional Passport Office, Jalandhar and contact the concerned person, as indicated above, and provide the requisite clarification/information/document.

In case, such clarification/information/document is provided by the petitioner then the passport authorities shall process the application of the petitioner and take a final decision thereon within a period of six weeks from the date such clarification/information/document is provided by the petitioner.
