(ORAL ) Through Video Conference Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that the petitioners are serving as Head Constables in the Punjab Police at different places and they are seeking a step up of their pay at par with respondent No.6 who is junior to the petitioners and also grant of arrears of pay and consequential benefits along with interest. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that he had issued a legal notice dated 9.12.2020 (Annexure P-9) but the same has not been considered. Notice of motion to respondent Nos.1 to 5 only at this stage.

CWP-5094-2021 (O&M) On asking of the Court, Mr.Daldeep Singh Sukarchakia, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the aforesaid respondents and states that he has no objection in case appropriate directions are issued to the official respondents to consider the claim of the petitioners and to decide the same in accordance with law.
After hearing the learned counsel for the parties, this Court is satisfied that even without calling for the reply from the State, this writ petition can be disposed of with appropriate directions. Consequently, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to forward legal notice dated 9.12.2020 (Annexure P-9) to the competent Authority of different petitioners and thereafter, the competent Authority shall decide the same by passing a speaking order in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of the order.
