The petitioner through instant petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents to re-issue him passport with correct date of birth.

In the passport, date of birth of the petitioner has been recorded as 24.04.1977 whereas his correct date of birth is 26.04.1977. The petitioner vide application dated 04.06.2023 applied for re-issuance of passport. He has also submitted representation dated 16.01.2024, however, till date passport has not been issued.

Mr. Rajeev Dev Sharma, Advocate, submits that in the passport, incorrect date of birth of the petitioner has been recorded. The petitioner has applied for re-issuance of passport and made representation still passport has not been issued.

Mr. Indresh Goel, Senior Panel Counsel for Union of India submits that petitioner may be directed to appear before the passport authority alongwith requisite documents. Thereafter, the passport authority would pass an appropriate order within six weeks. 5.

Learned counsel for the petitioner agrees to the aforesaid arrangement.

In the wake of statements of both sides, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to petitioner to appear before the passport authority on 04.04.2024 alongwith requisite documents. On doing so, the passport authority would pass an appropriate order within six weeks from 04.04.2024.
