Present writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, inter-alia, for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to grant exemption from passing departmental examination i.e. 'Paper-VIII (Financial Rules)' for promotion as 'Naib Tehsildar' in terms of Regulation 5 of 'The Punjab Naib Tehsildars Departmental Examination Regulations, 2020' issued vide notification dated 30.05.2020 (P-2) as the same benefit has been extended to similarly situated persons vide orders dated 31.05.2020 & 01.07.2021 (P-3 & P-4) passed by office of respondent No.2.

At the outset, learned counsel, on instructions from petitioners submitted that instead of pressing the present petition on merits, he would be satisfied in case the representations dated 16.08.2021, 15.10.2021 & 06.01.2022 (P-10) are decided expeditiously.
