The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking setting aside of order dated 07/12.11.1997 (Annexure P-4) whereby the authorities under Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948 (for short, '1948 Act') has imposed damages.

From the perusal of record especially impugned order, it comes out that authorities under 1948 Act had imposed damages to the tune of Rs.69,519/- for the delayed payment of contribution for the period Anju Goel 2024.09.03 16:55 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

CWP-1728-1998 (O&M) from February' 1977 to March' 1986 and February' 1982 to September' 1987. The operation of aforesaid order subject to deposit of 70% of damages imposed by authorities, was stayed by order dated 06.02.1998 passed by a Division Bench of this Court.

None of the parties is aware of present status of the aforesaid damages. A period of 26 years from the date of filing petition and more than three decades from the period involved has passed away. 4.

This Court does not find it appropriate, at this stage, to keep the matter pending especially in view of the amount involved and lack of information of the parties.

Disposed of.

Pending miscellaneous application (s), if any, shall also stand disposed of.
