Mr. Sukhwinder S. Aviraj, Advocate for the petitioners. *** DEEPAK GUPTA, J. (ORAL) [1] Having married against the wishes of their family members, petitioners, who claimed to be major, are facing threat to their life and liberty from private respondent Nos.4 to 6 and so, by way of this petition, they seek direction for respondent Nos.2 & 3 to protect their life. [2] Petition is accompanied by Aadhar Cards (Annexures P-1 and P-2 respectively) of both the petitioners, besides copies of marriage photographs (Annexure P-3) and copy of marriage certificate (Annexure P-4). They have also placed on record a copy of application dated 18.02.2024 (Annexure P-5), which was moved to respondent Nos.2 & 3. [3] Notice of motion to respondent Nos.1 to 3 only. [4] Mr. Amandeep Singh Sandhu, learned DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos.1 to 3. A copy of paper book be supplied to him during the course of day.
[5] Without commenting on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners, respondent Nos.2 and 3 are hereby directed to provide necessary protection to the petitioners after assessing threat perception to their life.
