SURINDER GUPTA, J.(Oral) This petition is for seeking protection of life and liberty of petitioners, who alleged to have married against the wishes of respondents No. 4 and 5, father and brother of petitioner No. 1. Petitioners have limited their prayer for taking appropriate action in accordance with law on their representation dated 28.03.2017 (Annexure P-5) submitted by petitioner No. 1 to Superintendent of Police, Rewari. The date of birth of petitioner No.1- Arti is 15.08.1997 as per her affidavit (Annexure P-1) and that of petitioner No.2- Tarsem Singh is 02.03.1997 as per copy of Aadhaar Card (Annexure P-2). They got married on 28.03.2017. Photographs of marriage are Annexure P-3.

In view of the submission of the petitioners, but without expressing any opinion on the validity of their marriage, petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No. 2-Superintendent of Police, Rewari to look into the representation dated 28.03.2017 (Annexure P-5) and take appropriate action in accordance with law, on receipt of copy of this order Jyoti 2017.03.

Since petitioner No. 2 is less than 21 years of age, respondent No.2-Superintendent of Police, Rewari will also look into this fact and may initiate any action against the petitioners and others responsible for this marriage, in accordance with the provisions of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 or for violation of any other provision of law.

However, it is made clear that this order will have no effect on the validity of alleged marriage of the petitioners or on any other civil or criminal proceedings instituted against them. (SURINDER GUPTA) March 31, 2017.
