The present Civil Writ Petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus for directing the respondents to pay/release the retiral benefits along with interest @ 18% per annum.

Learned counsel would submit that the petitioners had retired on 28.02.2020 and 31.01.2020, however, their retiral benefits have not been released till now and as stated in para 3, they have an unblemished service record and never involved in any controversy throughout their career. In this regard, a legal notice dated 10.01.2024 (Annexure P-2), has been served upon the respondents, which has yet not evoked any response. He thus, at this stage, on instructions, submits that the petitioners are sanguine of it being considered in a positive manner, in case, a direction is given to the respondents to decide the same in a time bound manner by granting them an opportunity of hearing.

Mr. HS Batth, Advocate, appears and accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-University and has no objection to the limited prayer made. 5.
