Mr. Nilesh Bhardwaj, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab. RAJESH BINDAL, J The State is in appeal seeking reduction in the amount of compensation for the acquired land.

Brief facts of the case are that the State of Punjab vide notification dated 4.3.1987, issued under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (for short 'the Act') sought to acquire land situated within the revenue estate of village Rajgarh, Tehsil Rajpura, District Patiala, for construction of distributory of SYL Canal. Notification under Section 6 of the Act was issued on 6.3.1987. The Land Acquisition Collector (for short, 'the Collector') awarded compensation for the acquired land. Dissatisfied with the award of the Collector, the claimants filed objections which were referred to the learned Court below, who keeping in view the material placed on record by the parties, awarded ` 80,000/- per acre for the acquired land. It is this award which is impugned in the present appeal.

A perusal of the paper book shows that the amount involved in the appeal is merely ` 8,541.67. The acquisition having taken place about 28 years back and the amount of compensation already paid to the landowners, I do not find any reason to interfere with the impugned award at this stage.
