(Oral) The challenge in this writ petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, to the order dated 22.09.1998 (Annexure P-6), passed in Original Application No.73/HR/98 filed by respondent No.1, wherein, the suspension order dated 12.12.1996 and order of rejecting appeal of respondent No.1 dated 05.02.1998 (appended as Annexures P-4 & P-5, respectively) were quashed.

At the outset, on a query being put to learned State counsel whether, there was any interim order passed by this Court at the time of admission of the writ petition, it was pointed out that no interim order was granted and the order must have been implemented by now. Learned State counsel was unable to give any satisfactory explanation. 3.

However, on December 2, 1998, the following order was passed:

"Admitted.

No stay."

We find that more than 18 years have gone by and in such circumstances, it appears that the present writ petition has been rendered infructuous and is accordingly disposed of as such. However, liberty is granted to the state to file an appropriate application for revival of the writ petition, in case something survives therein.
