*** HARSH BUNGER, J. (Oral) CM-2325-CWP-2025 This is an application filed for seeking grant of leave from filing the present case without the number of Roll of Advocate. Civil Misc. Application is allowed as prayed for. CWP-4151-2025 (O&M) The instant Writ Petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India inter alia seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing the respondents to renew the passport of the petitioner.

Learned counsel appearing for the respondents, while referring to Annexure P-1, submits that in relation to the application seeking renewal of the passport, submitted by the petitioner, certain clarifications were sought from the petitioner vide letter dated 01.01.2025 (Annexure P-1) and the same was responded to by the petitioner vide Annexure P-2, wherein the HIMANI GUPTA 2025.03.12 09:24 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document/judgment High Court, Chandigarh

CM-2325-CWP-2025 in/and CWP-4151-2025 (O&M) -2petitioner had sought 4-5 months' time to submit the requisite document indicating cancellation of his birth certificate issued in the year 1997. Learned counsel for the respondents further submits that till date the said document has not been supplied by the petitioner. 3.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he would not press the instant writ petition at this stage and that the petitioner would approach the concerned passport authorities along with the requisite document indicating cancellation of his birth certificate; however, he prays that appropriate directions be issued for consideration of the application seeking renewal of the passport, submitted by the petitioner, in a time bound manner.

Keeping in view the aforesaid submissions made by the respective counsel, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioner to approach the concerned passport authorities along with the requisite document indicating cancellation of birth certificate issued in name of the petitioner, in the year 1997.

4.1 As and when the petitioner approaches the concerned passport authorities along with the aforesaid document, the concerned passport authorities shall process the application, submitted by the petitioner, and render a final decision thereon in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date when the petitioner approaches the concerned passport authorities with the requisite document, as indicated above. 5.
