(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondent Nos.4 to 6 who are mother, aunt and sister respectively of petitioner No.1. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that petitioner No.1 Manju was married to Manoj on 2.3.2019 but said Manoj was a

- 2 - drunkard and used to beat petitioner No.1 on petty issues. Petitioner No.1 also got pregnant out of the said wedlock and has given birth to a male child. It is submitted that subsequently petitioner No.1 and her husband agreed for dissolving the marriage by mutual consent and a petition under Section 13-B of Hindu Marriage Act was filed in which statements on the first motion were recorded on 5.2.2021 and now the matter is fixed for 5.8.2021 for recording statements on the second motion.

It has further been submitted that in the interregnum petitioner No.1 came in contact with petitioner No.2 and they both started liking each other and have been residing together but respondent Nos.4 to 6 do not approve of the said conduct of petitioner No.1 and have been threatening to cause harm to the petitioners.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2Superintendent of Police, Yamunanagar to look into the matter and to dispose of representation dated 5.3.2021 (Annexure P-3) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is a genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 5.3.2021 be sent to Superintendent of Police, Yamunanagar (respondent No.2), so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously.

- 3 - It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not be taken to be any expression as regards the alleged relationship of petitioner No.1-Manju with petitioner No.2 and will not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
