The petition has been filed, inter alia, seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of eighteen per cent per annum to the petitioner on the delayed payment of pension and other retiral benefits.

The detailed written statement has been filed, explaining that the petitioner retired from service on 31.12.1996, and due pensionary benefits were released to him within a couple of months of submitting the requisite documents for the purpose. The time taken in releasing the benefits along with reasons has been duly explained in the written statement, which has not been disputed by the petitioner by filing any counter affidavit. 3.
In view thereof, it cannot be said that there was any delay on the part of the respondents in releasing due pensionary benefits to the petitioner. 4.
Dismissed.
