By way of the present petition, the petitioner is seeking regular bail in case bearing FIR No.20 dated 09.02.2025 registered under Section 22 of NDPS Act, at Police Station Sadar Nawashahar, District SBS Nagar. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is in custody since 09.02.2025, i.e. for the last more than 01 year and 02 months. He limited his prayer to the extent that the trial Court be directed to conclude the trial expeditiously.

Custody certificate dated 13.04.2026 of the petitioner filed by learned State counsel in Court, is taken on record. Learned State counsel opposed the contention of learned counsel for the petitioner by submitting that the petitioner is a habitual offender; since he has been convicted in two other cases under NDPS Act, and also in one another case under NDPS Act, production warrants have been issued.

Keeping in view the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner and the fact that the petitioner is in custody for the last more than 01 years and 02 months and he is a habitual offender; this Court is not inclined to grant him bail at this stage, however, the instant petition is disposed off with a direction to the Trial Court to expedite the conclusion of trial, preferably within a period of 3 months from the next date of hearing fixed before it.
