The present Civil Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent-departments to consider/finalize the recruitment/appointment of the petitioner.

Learned counsel would contend that the petitioner had successfully cleared the written exam way back in the year 2018 and in the year 2020, his certificates along with driving license were duly checked by the respondents and his name was shown at Sr. No.82 in the list of candidate who cleared the written examination and he has obtained merit of 47 under Code 8. However, he was neither called for the driving test nor any intimation was received by him with regard to the selection process and his status therein. In this regard, a representation dated 20.08.2023 (Annexure P4), has been submitted by him, which has yet not evoked any response. He thus, at this stage, on instructions, submits that the petitioner is sanguine of it being considered in a positive manner, in case, a direction is given to the respondents to decide the same in a time bound manner by granting him an opportunity of hearing. 3.

In view of the aforesaid and without commenting upon the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondents to consider the representation dated 20.08.2023, Annexure P4 and decide the same within a period of 4 months and if found entitled, necessary benefit be granted to the petitioner forthwith.
