MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (Oral) The instant petition has been filed for issuance of direction to respondents No. 2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of private respondents No. 4 to 11. It is contended that the petitioners were engaged in March 2020 but later on the parents and relatives of petitioner No.1-Jilsana turned against the match. Therefore, the petitioners fled away from their homes. The private respondents have thereafter been threatening the petitioners with dire consequences.

In the circumstances, petitioners approached respondent No.2 i.e. Superintendent of Police, Nuh, vide representation dated 07.03.2021 (Annexure P-3), seeking protection of their life and liberty, but in vain. Thereafter, they solemnized marriage on 09.03.2021 against the wishes of the RUPINDER KAUR 2021.03.12 16:52 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRWP-2504-2021 [ 2 ] private respondents. Hence, they are seeking protection in that regard and have approached this Court by way of filing the instant petition. Notice of motion.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Rajiv Goel, DAG, Haryana, accepts notice on behalf of the State.

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Superintendent of Police, Nuh, to look into the representation dated 07.03.2021 (Annexure P3) submitted by the petitioners qua threat perception, if any, and take necessary steps, if any required, in accordance with law, to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioners is not jeopardized at the hands of the private respondents. However, this direction will not validate the marriage said to have taken place between the parties and will have no effect on any civil or criminal action, which could be initiated in the matter in accordance with law.
