This petition for regular bail has been filed by petitioner - Jyoti Rani, an accused in FIR No. 03 dated 15.2.2018, for offence under Section 21 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Sadar, Pathankot, District Pathankot.

Briefly stated, facts of the case, as per the prosecution story are that a secret information was received by local police that petitioner - Jyoti Rani alongwith Prabhjit Singh, then residing at Rattan Nagar, Jalandhar, had been dealing in drug trafficking and were present near Mirthal selling narcotic substances; that in case a raid was conducted, then contraband could be recovered from them. CRM-M No. 14385 of 2018 -2Singh were apprehended and 194 grams of Heroin was recovered from them. They were arrested in this case.

The petitioner had moved an application for grant of regular bail before the Court of Sessions, which was dismissed by Judge Special Court, Pathankot, vide order dated 6.3.2018, as such the petitioner has approached this Court seeking similar relief, which request is being opposed by the State counsel. The allegations against the petitioner are very grave and serious of indulging in drug trafficking. The drug traffickers have ruined the lives of youth of this region. The petitioner by supplying drugs to the youth is indulging in very hateful task. Such type of elements need to be dealt with sternly and no leniency can be shown to her, otherwise, that would not only send a wrong signal in the society but would also increase the drug peddling further. I do not see any reason to grant regular bail to the petitioner. The petition stands dismissed.
