The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents No.2 and 3 to consider him for the post of Constable from the date his juniors have been enlisted as Constable.

The petitioner joined Punjab Police as Special Police Officer on 10.02.1994. He is claiming that he should be assigned constabulary number from the date his juniors have been assigned. 3.

Mr. Dhir submits that there were more than 16000 SPOs who were given multiple opportunities to clear suitability test for the post of Constable. The petitioner could clear suitability test much later than his juniors, thus, he was assigned constabulary number in 2006 on clearance of suitability test as well as availability of post. The grievance of petitioner stands redressed, thus, the petition is disposed of as infructuous. The petitioner is at liberty to move an appropriate application within three months from today, if cause survives.
