The petitioners through instant petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India are seeking direction to respondents to address their legal notice dated 05.01.2026 whereby they have requested respondents to issue notification or make rules to prevent overcrowding of transport vehicles and provide safe road to the commuters. 2.

The petitioners are claiming that there is huge rush of transport vehicles moving from Gurdaspur to Bhani Main Khan via Purana Shalla, Bhulle Chack route. As per section 67 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the respondent is supposed to make rules to prevent overcrowding and road safety.

Mr. Vikas Arora, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, who on advance notice is present in Court on behalf of respondent-State, submits that competent authority would consider petitioners' legal notice dated 05.01.2026 and proceed in accordance with law.
