Brief facts of the case are that the State of Punjab vide notification dated 19.3.1981, issued under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (for short 'the Act') sought to acquire land situated within the revenue estate of village Kukanet, Tehsil and District Hoshiarpur, for construction of Dholbaha Dam. Notification under Section 6 of the Act was issued on 24.3.1981. The Land Acquisition Collector (for short, 'the Collector') awarded the compensation for the trees. Dissatisfied with the award of the Collector, the landowners filed objections which were referred to the learned Court below for consideration, who keeping in view the material placed on record by the parties, allowed the reference. It is this award which is impugned in the present appeal.
