SURINDER GUPTA, J.(Oral) This petition is for seeking protection of life and liberty of petitioners, who alleged to have married (performed Nikah) against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 7, fathers and brothers of both the petitioners.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has limited his prayer for taking appropriate action in accordance with law on the representation dated 29.04.2015 (Annexure P-4) made by the petitioners. It has been stated that both the petitioners are major. The date of birth of petitioner No.1-Mohamad Pappu is 30.04.1987 as per copy of Matriculation Examination Certificate (Annexure P-1) and that of petitioner No.2-Ritu is 23.09.1992 as per copy of Secondary School Examination (Annexure P-2). Petitioner No.2 adopted the Muslim religion and solemnized Nikah with petitioner No.1 on 29.04.2015 as per Muslim customs vide marriage certificate (Anneuxre P-3).

CRM-M-14389-2015 -2In view of the limited prayer made by the learned counsel for the petitioners and without expressing any opinion on the validity of marriage of petitioners, this petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh to look into the representation dated 29.04.2015 (Annexure P-4) and take appropriate action in accordance with law, on receipt of certified copy of this order. However, it is made clear that this order will have no effect on the validity of alleged marriage of the petitioners or on any other civil or criminal proceedings instituted against them.
