(Oral) The present petition under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been filed seeking appropriate directions to the learned trial Court to conclude the trial in FIR No.107 dated 06.12.2018, registered under Sections 365, 302, and 201 of the Indian Penal Code at Police Station Ghanaur, District Patiala (Annexure P-1) expeditiously as the challan in the present case has already been filed, and the matter is pending before the learned trial Court for recording of prosecution evidence since 04.03.2020.
Status report dated 29.07.2025 has been filed by learned State counsel, in Court today, which is taken on record. As per said status report, it is submitted that the charges in the instant FIR were framed on 02.05.2019 and that out of a total of 38 prosecution witnesses, 17 prosecution witnesses already stand KAVITA NAIN 2025.08.01 10:53 I agree to specified portions of this document
CRM-M-8839-2020(O&M) - 2completely examined, while 07 witnesses have been given up. 14 of the prosecution witnesses are yet to be examined. The next date fixed before the trial Court for remaining prosecution evidence is 13.08.2025. It is further submitted that the trial is ongoing at a reasonable pace and all endeavours for the conclusion of the prosecution evidence at the earliest shall be made. In view of the above-stated submissions, and given the fact that the FIR dates back to the year 2018, the trial Court is encouraged to conclude the trial expeditiously, preferably within a period of six months.
