Pramod Kumar v. Kurukshetra University
CWP No.5521 of 1997 (O & M) -1- 2024:PHHC:019847
IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA
AT CHANDIGARH ***** CWP No.5521 of 1997 (O & M) Date of Decision : 13.2.2024 Dr. Pramod Kumar Bajpai ..... Petitioner versus Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and others ..... Respondents CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE TRIBHUVAN DAHIYA Present: None for the petitioner Mr. Jagdeep Singh Rana, Advocate, for respondents no.1 to 4 None for respondent no.5 --- TRIBHUVAN DAHIYA J. (ORAL): The petition has been filed, inter alia, seeking a writ of certiorari quashing the appointment of fifth respondent to the post of Reader, Social Work (Specialisation Psychiatric and Medical Social Work) in the respondent-University.
2.
As per averments in the petition, the appointment has primarily been challenged on the ground that the petitioner, despite being eminently qualified and meritorious, has not been selected. 3.
It is apparent on record that the fifth respondent was appointed on the post after being selected by a duly constituted Selection Committee, and joined service on 29.3.1997. Merely being eminently qualified does not entitle the petitioner to claim selection, or challenge the appointment in question. Besides, the fifth respondent might be on the verge of retirement by now, if not retired already. Ashwani Kumar 2024.02.14 16:59 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
CWP No.5521 of 1997 (O & M) -2- 2024:PHHC:019847 4.
In this background, finding no ground to interfere, the petition stands dismissed.
5.
Pending miscellaneous application(s), if any, stands disposed of accordingly.
